| Brewing
beer is really a very simple process. The process begins
with malted barley that is milled and mixed
with hot water to form mash. The next step
- mashing - occurs by controlling the water
temperature, which in turn converts the malt starches into
sugars. When mashing is concluded the sugar rich water,
now called wort, is strained through the
bottom of the mash and transferred to the Brew Kettle.
The Brew Kettle is used to bring the wort to a boil, where
at different times hops are added for both
bitterness and aroma. The wort then is cooled and aerated
in preparation for the pitching of the
yeast and fermentation.
The end of the fermentation process yields a "green
beer" that will be lagered. Finally,
filtration and then carbonation,
and off to a holding tank until it is bottled or kegged.
